Adelaide Almeida

Adelaide (Marques) Almeida 78 of New Bedford passed away, peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, January 8, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Joaquina (Goncalves) Marques. Adelaide was born in Folgosinho, Portugal and had lived in this area most of her life. She was formerly employed at Bedford Village Nursing Home as a Certified Nurses Aide until her retirement. Her family would like to thank Sandy Dias from Community Nursing Hospice, for her kind and compassionate care. Survivors include her son Julio Almeida of PA, her daughter Odete Durden and her husband Richard of New Bedford; her brother Antonio Marques of New Bedford; her sisters Cidalina DaSilva of New Bedford and Amelia DaCosta of Florida, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend Michille Miranda. She was the sister of the late Georgina Pickering. Her visitation will be 8-10am, followed by her funeral service at 10am, on Thursday January 14, 2021 at the Boulevard Funeral Home 223 Ashley Blvd. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations, in her name, may be made to the American Cancer Society. All attendees are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing. The attendance at the funeral home is limited. Guests are asked to pay their respects and depart, to allow the next guest to enter. Thank you for your cooperation.
