Adriano Cardoso

Adriano Cardoso, 96, of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Hathaway Manor. Born in Chaves, Portugal, he was son of the late Adolfo Cardoso and the late Barbara da Conceicao Cardoso and husband of the late Balbina (Oliveira) Cardoso. Before coming to the United States, Adriano worked as a ticket punch in Portugal and this is where he developed his loyalty to F.C Porto. Upon his arrival in New Bedford, he began working at various construction companies as a laborer and made it a lifelong career. Adriano was a member of the Portuguese American Athletic Club and could often be found playing cards there or outside in the garden.

He is survived by his sons; Antonio Cardoso and wife, Maria, Jose Cardoso and wife, Margo; grandchildren, Vincent Cardoso, Eric Cardoso and wife Jocelyn, Simone Cardoso; great grandchildren, Adrian and Benjamin; and many nieces and nephews. Adriano is preceded in death by his brothers; Jose, Joaquim, Manuel, Antonio, and Domingos.

A Visitation will be held, Tuesday, Sept 19th at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd from 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be said Wednesday, Sept 20th at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church at 10am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
