Agostinha de Abreu

Agostinha A. (Andrade Souto) de Abreu 98 of New Bedford passed away Sunday November 13, 2011 at St. Luke’s hospital. She was the widow of Eduardo de Abreu and daughter of the late Manuel Andrade Souto and Maria de Jesus. She was born in Ponta do Sol on Madeira Island and had lived in New Bedford since 1968. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Mrs. de Abreu was employed by Calvin Clothing as a floor worker until her retirement. Survivors include her daughter Maria Lira of New Bedford; her step-sons Joao de Abreu and his wife Maria Jose of New Bedford and Jose de Abreu; her grandchildren Luis Nelson Lira and his wife Maria G. Lira; Stephanie Lira, Michelle Lira; her step granddaughter Charlene de Abreu; her great-grandchildren Devon Lira and Sierra Lira. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Thursday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visiting hours are Wednesday 6-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery.
