Alice Fonseca

Alice (Machado) Fonseca 93 of New Bedford passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Arthur Fonseca and daughter of the late John and Maria (Souza) Machado. She was born in New Bedford and was a lifelong resident. Alice was a communicant of the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish. She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Baldwin Sportswear until her retirement. Survivors include many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Hilda Domingos, Georgina Fornaciai, Sally Medeiros, Lucille Agrella, Elizabeth Martin, Lee Rauch, John Machado, Maria Machado, Jordan Machado and George Machado. Visitation will be Wednesday 9:30am until 10:30am followed by her funeral mass at 11:00am at the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to your favorite charity.
