Alvaro C Pinto, 84 of Acushnet passed away the morning of February 26, 2023 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the son of late Alvaro Pinto and late Maria (da Purificacao) Pinto and husband of Maria (DaSilva) Pinto. Alvaro was a man of many talents: author, poet, teacher, song writer, and palm reader. Those who had the opportunity to meet him instantly felt his warmth and wisdom, he had an innate ability to make those around him feel welcome and cared for. He was a devout Catholic who spread the teachings of Christ on missions throughout the United States, Portugal, and many countries in Africa. Alvaro strongly believed in giving back to his community, not only as an active member of Immaculate Conception Church and Club Recordacoes de Portugal, but also in shaping a new generation of Portuguese speakers as an instructor at the Escola Oficial da Lingua Portuguesa. Alvaro fiercely loved his family, especially his wife and daughter, as well as his two grandchildren Mila and Logan. His grandchildren brought out a playful side in him which brought smiles to family and friends, whether he was trying his luck at hula hooping or dancing along to the steps in a new video game. He firmly believed in the goodness of people and had a naturally calming presence. He is survived by his wife, Maria Pinto; daughter, Jennifer Devin; brothers, Jose Lino Pinto, Augusto Pinto; sisters, Sister Victoria Pinto, Veva Pinto; grandchildren, Mila, Logan and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alvaro is preceded in death by his brothers; Miguel Pinto, Manuel Pinto, Luis Pinto and sister; Sister Maria Esperanca Pinto.
