Amandio Maria

Amandio M. Maria, 85, of New Bedford, passed away January 1, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital. Born in Santo Amaro de Azurara, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose Leopoldo Maria and Clarisse Assuncao Marques and has been in the United States for 55 years. Amandio was the husband of Maria E. Costa, they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He worked as an assembler for General Electric and International Dryers. Amandio was a member of the Portuguese Army and a hard worker, who would always lend a helping hand. Amandio is survived by his wife, Maria; daughters, Clarisse Marques, Belmira Furtado, sons; Mario Marques, Victor Marques and wife Dina, George Maria, brother; Mauricio Marques DosSantos of Portugal, sisters; Filomena DeJesus of Portugal, Odete Fernandes or Portugal, grandchildren; Christine Furtado with companion Dave, Natasha Vieira companion Logan Wood, Jeffery Furtado and companion Krystal Furtado, Alexander Vieira and wife Catie, Erik Marques, Jessica Vieira and companion Tyler Kabala, Nicholas Marques, Blake Marques, Serena Marques, great grandchildren; Kalli, Lilly, Bryant, Briella, Caroline, Maverick, Luke, Kinsley, Jasper, Harrison and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters; Auzenda Lopes and Belmira DosSantos. Amandio's funeral has been rescheduled due to snow and will be held Saturday, January 8, at Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception Church at 9:00 with burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. His visitation will be Thursday from 5-8pm at Boulevard Funeral Home. All attendees are asked to wear a mask.
