Anibal M. Capella 89 of Acushnet passed away Friday September 7, 2012 at Southeastern MA Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Esther (Pombo) Capella and son of the late Jose Mendes Capella and Constancia (Reis) Capella. He was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of his life. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Mr. Capella was formerly employed by New Bedford Gas and Edison Co. as a stationary engineer until his retirement. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Coast Guard. He is survived by his wife; his sons Paul Capella of New Bedford, David Capella of Lakeville, Steven Capella of Ridgefield, CT, Phillip Capella of West Sheffield, CT, Peter Capella of Andover, MD,
and 6 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Emma Doyle. His funeral mass will be said Wednesday 11am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. A visiting hour will be Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30am.Burial will be in the Veterans National cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to one’s favorite charity.
