Antonio DeViveiros

Antonio DeViveiros 65 of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday September 5, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Home. He was the son of the late Antonio and Deolinda (Pacheco) Viveiros. He was born in St. Michael, Azores and had lived in Pico, Azores before coming to New Bedford in 1980. Mr. DeViveiros was a self employed carpenter. While he lived in Pico, he was a harpooner on a whaling ship. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Survivors include 2 sons Manuel Viveiros of New Bedford, Michael Lipsett; 4 daughters Christina Tavares of New Bedford, Berta Viveiros of New Bedford, Kaitleyn Lipsett of New Bedford and Ashley. 4 brothers Jose Luis Viveiros of Fayal, Fernando Viveiros of New Bedford, Lino Viveiros of New Bedford, Carlos Viveiros of San Diego. 4 sisters Adriana Tavares of New Bedford, Gabriela Brooks of CA, Lucia Vieira of New Bedford, Gloria Viveiros of New Bedford. 3 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 1 great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Madelena Avila. Funeral from the funeral home Wednesday at 7:45 am followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church at 8:45am. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8pm. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery.
