Antonio F Silva, 90, of New Bedford passed away at CareOne of New Bedford on Saturday, December 30th, 2023. Born in Melo, Gouveia, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose F Silva and the late Maria Ascencao (Abreu) Silva and husband to the late Zaida (Santos) Silva.
Antonio enjoyed spending his time tending to his gardening and sharing his secrets of wine making with his grandchildren. What he loved most was sharing moments with his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Antonio served in the Portuguese Army Cavalry Unit and was a long time member of the Recordacoes de Portugal.
Survivors include his son, Jorge Silva and wife, Margaret DeBortoli-Silva of Acushnet; daughter, Filomena Delgado and husband, Victor of Acushnet; sister, Lurdes Claudio; grandchildren, Pilar, Joshua, Adin, Jonathan, Michael; great grandchildren, Lucca, Jaiden, Nikko, Hunter and many nieces and nephews.
Antonio is preceded in death by his siblings; Joao daSilva, Maria Lopes, Julia Lopez, Carminda Amaral, Maria G Lopes and Virginia Augusto.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at CareOne New Bedford for the exceptional care given to Antonio, especially Alfredo.
Antonio's Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church at 10am. All are welcome to join us at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford prior to for visitation beginning at 8am. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
