Aristides A. Rego

Aristides A. Rego, 85, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in Assanhas, Portugal, he was the son of late Manuel Rego and the late Josefina Martins Abrantes. He was a devoted husband of 55 years to his wife Maria (Moura) Emilia. 

Aristides was a veteran of the Angolan Civil War. He was a hard-working construction foreman who was dedicated for many years to Faro Construction which later became Algar Construction Corporation in Brockton, MA until his retirement. 

He had a passion for hunting that he enjoyed sharing with his hunting friends. Aristides was an avid card player and a member of Club Recordacoes De Portugal. He was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church and was known to be a generous and loving man who was highly regarded by all who knew him. 

Survivors include his wife, Maria; his son, Roy George Rego and his wife Deborah; his daughter, Elizabeth Rock; his brother,Avelino Rego and his sister Maria Rego Veloso and her husband Jose Veloso. 

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Robert Rock, Shaina Rock, Savannah Rego and Sydney Rose Rego and two great-grandchildren; his nieces and god daughters; Elizabeth DeSousa and Dora Alexandre; another niece, Alice Ribeiro, as well as his nephews, Edson Rego and Jorge Veloso; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Aristides was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Robert H. Rock, Jr. and his sister-in-law, Maria Odete Rego. 

A visitation will be held from 8:00 to 9:30 am on Wednesday, March 13th at Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd in New Bedford. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, March 13th at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church followed by a private burial.
