Artur Silva

Artur S. Silva 85 of New Bedford passed away Monday June 15, 2020 at the Carney Hospital. He was the husband of the late Rosa Ana (Silva) Silva and son of the late Antonio Dutra and Maria de Blem (Silva) Medeiros. He was born in Terceira, Azores and had lived in New Bedford for many years. Artur was formerly employed by American Flexible Conduit, until his retirement. In his younger days, Artur was a very good soccer player, actually playing for Benfica. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Society of Horseneck. Survivors include his son Paulo Jorge Silva of Fall River; his daughters Grace Maria Silva and Suzanna Maria Silva both of New Bedford; his sisters Louise Winetta of Florida, Zelia Medeiros Simeneau of New Bedford and Humberta Silva Cunha of New Bedford. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Francisco Dutra, Natal Dutra and Carmel Faria. In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated.
