Carol Sprague

Carol M. (Newell) Sprague, 85, of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, July 28th, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born in Malden and was the daughter of the late Alfred Peter Newell and Grace Newell. She was the wife to the late George Sprague. Carol was a homemaker who adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an artist who loved to paint and make crafts. She was also a seamstress with a great sense of humor and a love for music. One thing she absolutely cherished and was proud of was her Irish heritage. Carol is survived by her sons, Larry Singelais and Carl Singelais; daughters, Jean Johnson and husband Russ, Amy Singelais and husband Randy Collins, Mary Freire-Kellogg and husband Jeff, and Vicky Karras; brother, Peter Newell; sisters, Audrey Perry and husband Bill, Lois Horak, Rosemary Newell, and Peg Stoodley and husband Tim; grandchildren, Christine Matthews and husband Brad, Natalie Hilton and husband Rob, Kimberly Whitten and husband AJ, Joshua Karras and wife Janelle, Jonathan Karras, Jake Karras, Daniel Freire and wife Aleesha, Sarah Cotter and husband Mike, Cheri King and husband Jim, Brad Collins, and Miranda Costeira and husband Alex; great-grandchildren, Shawn, Hunter, JJ, Kaylee, Amber, Grace, Nolan, Daniel, Emily, Ezra, Lexi, AJ, Wesson, Waylon and Scarlett. She is predeceased by her husband, and her sister Marsha Tomasi. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 20th at 9am at St. Lawrence Church, 110 Summer St., New Bedford. Please meet at Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford at 8:30am for the procession to church. A Celebration of Life will be held afterwards at the Costeria home. The address will be provided at the church.
