Conceicao “Connie” (Marmelo) Nobriga 86 of New Bedford passed away suddenly on Thursday March 10, 2011 at St. Luke’s hospital. She was the wife of the late Edward B. Nobriga, who passed away October 2, 2010. She was also the daughter of the late Joao and Augusta (Paulino) Marmelo. She was a lifelong New Bedford resident. Mrs. Nobriga was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. She was formerly employed as a stitcher at various manufacturing companies and for St. Luke’s hospital in the laundry room and in the housekeeping dept. She also volunteered with the hairdresser at the Sacred Heart home. She was a member of the Panthers Golden Agers. Survivors include her son John Nobriga and his wife Christine of Arizona; her daughter Theresa Fernandes and her husband Jorge of Acushnet; her brother Joaquin Marmelo and his companion Isabel Alves of New Bedford; her brothers-in-law Robert Mello of Fairhaven and Baltazar Marmelo of New Bedford; her grandchildren Brian Fernandes and his wife Leah, Sherri Lin Bonica and her husband Jason, Ashley Nobriga and Kelley Nobriga; her great-grandchildren Kayla Fernandes, Ryan Bonica; 1 niece and 1 nephew. She was the sister of the late Manuel Marmelo, Cesaro Marmelo, Joaquina Marmelo and Alice Marmelo. Her funeral mass will be said Tuesday 9am at Our lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visiting hours will be Monday 4-7pm.Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery
