Daniel Mattos Jr. passed away Monday, December 30, 2024 surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Born in New Bedford and raised in Fairhaven, he was the son of the late Daniel Mattos Sr and Alice (Henriques) Mattos.
Daniel loved spending time with his family and taking trips to the casino. He was a long a time cook at Danny's Seafood Restaurant in New Bedford.
Survivors include his wife, Madeline (Carvalho) Mattos; 4 sons, Daniel III, Joseph, Timothy and his wife Vineeta and Andrew and his wife Jennifer; daughter, Stephanie and her husband, Brian; daughter-in-law, Jessica Hardin; his ten grandchildren Hannah, Madeline, Alicia, Elizabeth, Colin, Sean, Chloe, Daniel IV, Lucas and Amyah; great grandchild, Julian. He is also survived by his brothers, Antonio, James, Paul and his partner Paula, Jacintho and Dennis and his wife Dawn; sisters Gail, Alice and her husband Wayne, Diamantina, Maria, and sister-in-law Elaine Mattos and many nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt.
Daniel is preceded in death by his brothers David and Joseph, his brother-in-laws Andrew Konerth, Joe Carvalho and Anthony DeCosta.
The Mattos family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the nurses & staff at Alden Court for treating Daniel with the utmost care and dignity.
Daniel's visitation will be held Friday, January 3rd from 4-8pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd New Bedford. His Funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, January 4th at St. Mary's Church Fairhaven at 10am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
