Delfim DaCruz 68 of New Bedford passed away Tuesday October 4, 2011 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Maria Patrocina (Santos) DaCruz and son of the late Albino and Germana (Pires) DaCruz. He was born in Zebral, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford since 1974. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Mr. DaCruz made surgical instruments for Johnson and Johnson until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, he was also a fan of the Sporting soccer team. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He served in the Portuguese army in Angola. Survivors include his son Ricardo DaCruz and his wife Ashleigh of Fairhaven; his daughter Ana Hayes and her husband Michael of Tiverton, RI; a brother Manuel Cruz of Portugal; his sisters Piedade Mendes of New Bedford; Guilhermina Teixeira of France, Rosa DaSilva of New Bedford; his grandchildren Liam and Ella Hayes and soon to be granddaughter Regan DaCruz; also many nieces and nephews. His funeral mass will be said 9am Saturday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visiting hours are Friday 6-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery
