Deolinda (Matthews) Jardin 97 of Acushnet passed away at CareOne of New Bedford on Saturday November 11th. She was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria J. (Florenzo) Matthews and husband of the late Kenneth P. Jardin. Deolinda was born in New Bedford. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Deolinda was formerly employed as a seamstress, stitcher and pattern maker in the local garment industry until her retirement. As a young woman she had roots in agriculture, which she returned to in her later years at her daughters farm Summer Winds. Survivors include her son Kenneth M. Jardin and wife Diane of New Bedford; daughter Anita Davis and her late companion John P. Conlan of Acushnet; brother, Joaquin Mateus of Dartmouth; grandchildren Kenneth P. Jardin and Michael C. Jardin and great grandson Hayden M. Taylor. She is also survived by special cousins Arminda and Armindo Valente, who helped care for her in her later years. Also many nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said 10am Thursday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. A visiting hour will be 8:30-9:30am Thursday. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery
