Domingos Vaz

Domingos Calado Vaz 77 of New Bedford passed away at home on Tuesday July 14, 2015. He was the husband of Maria Lurdes Afonso (Pereira) Vaz and son of the late Joaquim and Lucinda (Calado) Vaz He was born in Solveira, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford since 1974. He was formerly employed as a machine operator at Knapp Shoe until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, his son Jack P. Vaz of Acushnet, his daughter Maria C. Vaz of New Bedford, his brothers Joaquim Vaz of Portugal, Alberto Vaz of Portugal, Jose Vaz of Portugal, and Augusto Vaz of France; his sisters Lucinda Vaz of France, Rosa Esteves of France, Fatima Vaz of Portugal and Maria Calado Vaz of Portugal; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joao Vaz. His funeral mass will be said Friday at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Church in Acushnet. Visiting hours are Thursday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Acushnet Cemetery.
