Dorothy Callanan

Dorothy (Whitehead) Callanan 89 of Dartmouth, formerly of New Bedford, passed away Tuesday August 2, 2016 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. She was the wife of the late Armand Freitas and Thomas Callanan. She was also the daughter of the late Trevelyn and Ethel (Neagus) Whitehead. She was born in New Bedford and had lived in the Southcoast area all of her life. Dorothy was a communicant of the Holy Name of Sacred Heart of Jesus parish. She was formerly employed by the Sacred Heart Home. Survivors include her brothers Russell Whitehead of NJ, Robert Whitehead of FL and Donald Whitehead of FL. She is also survived by a dear friend Donat Cormier, also many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late David Freitas and sister of the late Carl and Leonard Whitehead. A funeral Mass with her cremated remains present will be said 9am Monday September 12 at the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
