Edward B. Nobriga 85 of New Bedford passed away at home on the morning of October 2, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Conceicao (Marmelo) Nobriga and son of the late Joao and Clara (Sylvia) Nobriga. He was born in New Bedford and live in this area all of his life. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Mr. Nobriga was formerly employed as a baker at Seaside Bakery and later at The Windsor Corp as a maintenance man. Mr. Nobriga was a member of the Panthers Golden Agers, DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and the Veterans Center. Edward was a WWII army veteran and was a recipient of the Bronze Star while serving in Europe. He was a devoted husband for over 64 years and was a kind and humble man who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Survivors include his wife, a son John husband of Christine M. Nobriga of Arizona, Theresa wife of Jorge Fernandes of Acushnet, a brother Robert Mello of Fairhaven, his sister-in law Alice wife of Baltazar Marmelo and Joaquim Marmelo companion of Isabel Alves. Grandchildren include Brian husband of Leah Fernandes, Sherri Lin wife of Jason Bonica, Ashley and Kelley Nobriga, two great grandchildren include Kayla Fernandes and Ryan Bonica. The Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9am at Our lady of the Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held Monday evening 5-8pm.
