Edward Wojnar

Edward K. Wojnar 66 of New Bedford passed away Friday March 13, 2015 after a long illness. He was the former husband of Nancy (Gomes) Wojnar and son of the late Edward and Isabelle (Haznar) Wojnar. He was born in New Bedford and moved to Baldwin, Long Island. As a young man Ed was a standout wrestler, lacrosse and football player. He earned a football scholarship to the University of South Carolina. He ultimately graduated from Southeastern Massachusetts University with a degree in American History. He had a quick wit and was comfortable interacting with all walks of life. Survivors include his former wife of New Bedford; his son David Wojnar and his wife Melissa of Acushnet; his grandsons Nathan and Jacob; his brothers Mark Wojnar of New Bedford, Peter Wojnar of N.Y.; his sister Andrea Wojnar of Senegal; numerous cousins especially Priscilla Guilmete of New Bedford. He was the brother of the late Steven Wojnar of N.Y. A Private committal service will be held at a later date.
