Eleuterio "Teddy" Furtado

Eleuterio S. “Teddy” Furtado 60, of New Bedford, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at home, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Manuel and Maria daGloria (Pacheco) Furtado. He was born in St. Michael, Azores and had lived in New Bedford for many years. He was employed at Holyhood Cemetery as a foreman. “Teddy” was a member of the Benfica Club in New Bedford. Survivors include his children, Christine Furtado of New Bedford, Jeffrey Furtado of New Bedford and Joao Pedro Furtado of St. Michael. He is also survived by his sisters, Luisa Pavao of New Bedford, Gloria Cabral of Fairhaven, Mary Lou Soares of New Bedford and Ana Correia of Florida, his former wife Belmira (Marques) Furtado also many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gil Furtado, Moises Furtado, Mary Jo Furtado and Francelina Furtado. His visiting hours are Friday August 2, 2019 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home 223 Ashley Blvd. A funeral service will be held during the visitation. At his request he will be cremated.
