Elizabeth Martin

Elizabeth (Machado) Martin 81 of New Bedford passed away on Friday May 27, 2011 at St. Luke’s hospital. She was the wife of the late Fernando S. Martin and daughter of the late John and Mary (Souza) Machado. She was a lifelong New Bedford resident. Mrs. Martin was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua church. She was a member of the St. Anthony’s seniors, Sacred Heart of the Holy Name of Jesus Seniors, Catholic Guild for the blind and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their families and friends. Survivors include her daughters Geraldine Mello of New Bedford, Jorgina Andreassen of Acushnet, Sally Costa and her husband Joseph of Acushnet, Priscilla Martin and her fiancé Paul Sladewski of New Bedford; her sisters Alice Fonseca and Ledwina Rauch both of New Bedford; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Her funeral mass will be said Tuesday 9am at St. Anthony of Padua church. Visiting hours are Monday 6-8pm. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery. Please omit flowers.
