Emanuel "Manny" Melo

Emanuel "Manny" F. Melo of New Bedford, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 7, 2018.

Born in Terceira, Acores he moved to New Bedford, MA at an young age. He was the eldest son of Manuel Simas Melo of Pico, Acores and Ludovina (Freitas) Melo of Terceira, Acores.

Manny was known for his contagious smile and ability to always be the life of the party. Most people called him Elvis because of his close resemblance, sideburns and his passion for music. He loved movies, concerts, reading and above all, spending lots of time with his family & friends.

He is survived by his children Jessica (Melo) and fiancé Jonathan Medeiros; Kristi Melo and partner Anthony Nunes; Christopher and wife Sarah Melo and his siblings, Frank and wife Tammy Melo, Susana (Melo) and husband Curt DaRosa, and Kevin Melo. In addition to being a beloved father, brother and son, he was an adored grandfather to Jonathan Jr. and Trent Medeiros. He was also the uncle to Abagail Tracz, Troy DaRosa; Katerina, Michael and Nicholas Melo. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Carmen (Valle) Smirnov.

Funeral services will be held at Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford at 9am on Saturday, May 12th. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be 5-8 pm on Friday, May 11th.  Relatives & friends are welcome.

He was a loving father and grandfather, a genuine friend and will be missed dearly. He would want us all to continue to “ROCK ON!”
