Esther Capella

Esther (Pombo) Capella 87 of New Bedford passed away Monday October 20, 2014 at the Southeastern MA Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Anibal Capella and daughter of the late Joseph and Antonia (Barboza) Pombo. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area for all of her life. Mrs. Capella was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. She was formerly employed by the U.S. Government as a bookkeeper at Camp Edwards until her retirement. Survivors include her sons Paul Capella of New Bedford, David Capella and his wife Yvonne of Lakeville, Steven Capella and his wife Hazel of Ridgefield, CT, Phillip Capella and his wife Maria of West Suffield, CT, Peter Capella and his wife Andrea of Andover, MD. Also 6 grandchildren. Mrs. Capella was the sister of the late Mary Conceicao. Her funeral mass will be said 10:30am Thursday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. A visiting hour will be held from 9-10am at the Boulevard Funeral Home 223 Ashley Blvd. Burial will be at the Veterans National Cemetery in Bourne.
