Helena (Machado) Almeida 76 of Dartmouth passed away Monday January 13, at St. Anne’s Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Manuel J. Machado and Palmira Rodrigues Lamas. She was born in Gralheira, Tras os Montes, Portugal and had lived in this area since 1968. Helena was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was formerly employed as a stitcher for Cliftex until her retirement. She loved her garden, taking care of her rabbits and chickens. Survivors include her son Ivo Machado Almeida and his wife Wendy of Acushnet, her brother Manuel Machado of New Bedford, her sisters Nazare Baptista of New Bedford and Palmira Borges of Acushnet. She is also survived by her granddaughter Helena Marie Almeida and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Hilario Machado. Her funeral mass will be 9am, Friday January 17, at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Thursday January 16, from 5-8pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home 223 Ashley Blvd. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
