Hilario Machado

Hilario Lamas Machado 64 of New Bedford, passed away Sunday December 30, at his home, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maria Lourdes (Estanqueiro) Machado and son of the late Manuel Joaquim Machado and the late Palmira Machado He was born in Gralheira, Portugal and had lived in this area for many years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Hilario was formerly employed in the textile industry as a machine operator. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Portuguese American Athletic Club and the United Fisherman’s Club. Survivors include his wife; his sons Hilario Manuel Machado and his wife Stef of New Bedford, Carlos Nogueira Machado and his wife Diane of Dartmouth, Paulo Jorge Machado and his wife Jocie of Fairhaven. His brother Manuel L. Machado of New Bedford; his sisters Helena L. Almeida of Dartmouth, Palmira L. Borges of Acushnet, Nazare L. Baptista of New Bedford. He is also survived by his grandchildren Alanna R. Machado, Leo N. Machado and many nieces and nephews. His funeral mass will be held 9am Thursday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church.Visiting hours are Wednesday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
