Hilda Bergquist

Hilda (Nobrega) Bergquist 88 of Acushnet passed away Wednesday July 15, 2015 at St. Luke’s hospital. She was the wife of the late Norman Caron and Stanley H. Bergquist. She was also the daughter of the late Alexander Nobrega and Herminia (Freitas) Martins. She was born in New Bedford and had lived in Acushnet for many years. Hilda was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in New Bedford. She was formerly employed as a machine operator at U.S. Ringbinder and various other manufacturing companies until her retirement. She enjoyed painting, gardening and traveled extensively. Survivors include her son Dwight S. Caron of Tucson, AZ; her grandchildren Christopher Allen, Robert Allen and Scott Caron; her great-grandchildren Makayla Allen, Sydney Allen and William Caron. She was the mother of the late Sandra Ann Allen; grandmother of the late Gregory Allen; sister of the late Alvaro Nobrega and Manuel Nobrega. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Saturday at St. Mary’s Church in New Bedford. A visiting hour will be held Saturday from 7:30 am until 8:30am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
