Hilda Smith

Hilda (Silvia) Smith 92 of Fall River died Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Charlton Memorial hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of William A. Smith and daughter of the late Manuel and Helen (Couto) Silvia. She was born in New Bedford and had lived in Fall River for several years. Mrs. Smith was a stitcher for Best Manufacturing until her retirerment. Survivors include her daughters Ruth Johnson of Braintree, MA and Kathleen Costa of Fall River, MA. Her sisters Helen Horner and Betty Koenig both of Virginia Beach, VA. 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Saturday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church in New Bedford. Visitation will be Friday evening 6-8pm. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery.
