Irene McNeese-Lucas

Irene Julieta McNeese-Lucas passed away at home February 8th 2022 at the age of 84. She was born to Antonio and Olimpia Magalhaes, who proceeded her in death. She was 1 of 12 children, who all but 1 proceeded her in death. Her family moved to California in 1948 and resided there for over 40 years where she had 4 children, 2, proceeding her in death, many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved greatly. She moved back to MA 2001 when she married the love of her life Daniel “Lucky” Lucas Sr. They were married for over 20 years and cherished every moment they had together until his passing in August 2021.

Over Irene’s lifetime, she was dedicated to helping anyone in need. She worked for the Humboldt County Sheriffs department for over 30 years.  It was the pride of her career to help those needing reform, guidance and support. Even after retiring she volunteered and help run a program through the Humboldt County Sheriffs department called S.C.O.P, Senior Citizen on Patrol, that helped keep watch over the communities and neighbors in her area.

She loved spending time with her family, going on adventures, segunda shopping, and traveled as often as she could. When she was in her 30’s she started riding motorcycles, traveling all over the west coast and beyond with a group of friends for many years. She traveled many places with her husband Dan, trekking all over the world together.

Irene was full of love, passion, adventure, and a light so bright you could see it was space. Irene dedicated her life to her family, and friends. Anyone who met her remembers her fondly, and with the upmost admiration. She will be greatly missed, and never forgotten by all who loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca McKenna, grandchildren Jennifer and Chad Hinckley, Elizabeth Stanley and great granddaughter Kayley Fontenot.

In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated.
