Ivone Nogueira

Ivone Lopes Nogueira passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013, after a spirited and courageous battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by her beloved family and friends, and remained her lively and loving self until the very end.

Ivone was born on September 7, 1969, in Carvalhal, Turquel, Alcobaça, Portugal.  She was raised in New Bedford, MA, and worked as an accountant at L&M Holdings.  Ivone is survived by her parents, Balbina Lopes Valentim and António Valentim, and by her sister Maria Nogueira Homolka and her husband Scott Homolka, of Gurely, Alabama and by her brother Jay Valentim and his partner Miriam Borges, of Acushnet, MA.  She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Gage Homolka, Garrett Homolka, Gabrielle Homolka, Coby Valentim, Kalvyn Smith, Dillon Valentim, and Tyler Valentim, and her cousin Cecilia Stone, as well as many other cousins.

The wake will be held Wednesday, November 13, from 5-9 pm, and the Funeral Mass Thursday, November 14, at 9AM at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford, MA.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Ivone and her family wish for donations to be made out to “Massachusetts General Hospital” with “Lung Cancer Research for Targeted Therapies--Ivone Nogueira” in the memo line so that is allocated to that fund.  Donations can be mailed to:
