Izaura "Hazel" Motta

Izaura “Hazel” (Alves) Motta 96 of New Bedford passed away Saturday August 22, 2020 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Antonio R. and Isabel (Vieira) Alves. She was born in New Bedford and was a lifelong resident. Hazel was a communicant of the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. She was formerly employed by the New Bedford School Department and the Social Security Office as a secretary and administrative assistant until her retirement. Survivors include her sister Ida Abdul-Jalil of New Bedford, her longtime friend and caregiver Manuel “Franky” Martins of New Bedford and caregiver Rhonda Costa of New Bedford. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph Alves, Abel Alves, Mary and Augusta. Her funeral mass will be said Wednesday 11am at the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus church. Visitation will be from 9am – 10:30am at the Boulevard Funeral Home 223 Ashley Blvd. Burial will be in Acushnet Cemetery. All attendees are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
