Jesuina Silvestre

Jesuina (Guilherme) Silvestre 80 of New Bedford, died Monday March 8, 2010 at St. Luke's hospital after a long illness. She was the widow of Jose L. Rocha Silvestre and daughter of the late Jose Machado Guilherme and Leonor (Livramento) Guilherme. She was born in Terceira, Azores and had lived in New Bedford since 1976. Mrs. Silvestre was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. She was formerly employed by Cliftex and Riverside Manufacturing as a stitcher until her retirement. Survivors include her daughter Leonesa deMedeiros of New Bedford; her sister Conceicao Mendonca of Portugal; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Jose F. daRocha. Her funeral mass will be said Saturday 9am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visitation will be Saturday morning 7:30am-8:45am. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery.
