Joanne E Medeiros

Joanne E. Medeiros, 68, a lifelong resident of the Sassaquin section of New Bedford, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, September 25, 2023. 

Born on New Year’s Day 1955, she was the loving daughter of the late John and Rita T. (Samson) Medeiros, and the devoted sister of Jeanne E. Medeiros, with whom she resided. 

Joanne was a graduate of Saint Anthony High School and Southeastern Massachusetts University.  She was employed by Southern Mass Credit Union in Fairhaven for more than 20 years prior to her illness. 

Additionally, Joanne worked for several years as a teaching assistant in an evening program for students learning English as a second language. 

A communicant of many years of the former Our Lady of Fatima Church, Joanne was known to all as an extraordinarily kind and compassionate person and was an ardent animal lover. She was also a talented cake decorator and took classes at The Wilton School in Chicago to enhance her skills. 

In addition to her sister, Joanne is survived and will be greatly missed by numerous loving cousins and several dear friends.

A graveside interment service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery on  Wednesday, October 4th at 10am. Family and friends are invited to attend. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Boulevard, New Bedford.
