John T. Carter

John T. Carter, 80, of Lakeville/New Bedford passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Acushnet and raised in New Bedford he was the son of the late Thomas and Stephanie (Kaszynski) Carter.

John is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Lynn Carter of Lakeville; Jacqueline L'Heureux and her husband Norman of East Freetown; his sister Loretta Carter of New Bedford; his grandchildren, Cody, Carissa, Megan, Norman, Hannah, Seth, and Mackenzie; his great grandchild, Maxwell and god daughter, Dorothy Gomes of New Bedford.

 He was preceded in death by his brother, William T. Carter.

 John proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for the city of New Bedford and later at Preferred Freezer in Raynham. During his lifetime, he enjoyed fishing and watching sports, especially rooting on his favorite teams the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Braves. Most importantly, he truly loved his family, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. John made sure he was always there to witness their many accomplishments.

 Visiting hours are on Wednesday, July 3 from 5-7 PM at Boulevard Funeral Home. His funeral mass is on Friday, July 5 at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in New Bedford. Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
