Jorge DaCosta

Jorge Jacinto DaCosta 89 of New Bedford passed away Saturday March 29, 2014 at home. He was the husband of the late Rosa Duarte (Simas) DaCosta and son of the late Abel DaCosta and Maria Jacinta Moreno. He was born in Salga, Achadinha, Nordeste, St. Michael, Azores and had lived in New Bedford for the past 8 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Mr. DaCosta was employed as a farmer in St. Michael. Survivors include his son Mario DaCosta of New Bedford; his daughter Maria Leonor Melo of New Bedford; his brothers Deodato DaCosta of Canada, Tiberio DaCosta of Canada, Guilherme DaCosta of Salga, St. Michael; his sisters Laudalina DaCosta of Canada, Aldina Melo of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Deodato DaCosta. His funeral mass will be said 10:30 am Tuesday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Monday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
