Jose Borges

Jose Borges, 83, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away at Oak Hill Hospital on January, 9, 2024. Born in Manhattan, NY, he was the devoted husband to Albina (Lopes) Borges and the son of the late Arthur Borges and the late Zaida (Santos) Borges. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

 Jose proudly served in the United States Army National Guard as a young man, he was a hard worker for many years and a member of the Laborers Union #385 for over 30 years until he retired. He was a very active man who was a long time member of Club Recordacoes De Portugal where he was an avid table tennis player and held the city of New Bedford championship title in the early 1960's. For many years he used his table tennis skills and kind heart to raise money for those who suffered from Muscular Dystrophy. Jose really enjoyed gardening and was also an active bicyclist.

 Jose will be dearly missed by his son; Jeffrey Borges and his wife Tiffany of New Bedford and, daughter; Julie Depiero and her husband Joe of Florida. He was the brother of Antonio Borges and Edith Rezendes, both of Acushnet. Jose is survived by several grandchildren; Jeffrey Borges Jr., Darrin Borges, Maisen Borges, Alexis Montanez, Gabriella Montanez, Emma Montanez, Caleb Foster and Joey Depiero and his great-granddaughter; Keilani Alamo.

 All are welcome to join us on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford from 5:00 to 8:00 pm for a visitation. His Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church of Fairhaven and a burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
