Jose Tiago

Jose Tiago 100 of New Bedford passed away Monday June 1, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, at the New Bedford Healthcare Center. He was the husband of the late Maria (Pires) Tiago and son of the late Jose Pires Tiago and Maria do Rosario Cardoso. He was born in Linhares, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford since 1966. Mr. Tiago was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was employed as a laborer in the construction and landscaping industries. He was a member of the Portuguese American Athletic Club and enjoyed going to the Clube Recordacoes de Portugal. Survivors include his sons Armenio Tiago of New Bedford and Jorge Tiago of Acushnet; his daughters Helena Bernardo and Teresa Clemmey both of New Bedford; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a nephew Cesar Tiago of Acushnet. He also has a brother and a sister in Portugal. His funeral mass will be said 9am Saturday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation will be Friday 5-8 pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
