Joseph DeSousa, 59, of New Bedford, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on March 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lomba da Maia, St. Michael, Portugal, he was the son of the late Victorino and Maria Espirito Santo (Mota) DeSousa. Joseph was a devoted Catholic and communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was member and volunteered a lot of years and time to the Senhor DaPedra Club and Feast. He was a good hearted man, who always had a loving and caring attitude. Joseph worked for many years at Aerovox and a number of years for the City of New Bedford. He is survived by his brothers, Antonio DeSousa and wife, Maria L., Carlos DeSousa; sisters, Maria J. Sousa and husband, John C., Eduarda DeSousa, Fernanda Couto and husband, Antonio, Cecilia Leite and late husband, Jose E., Helen Farpea and late husband, Manuel, and Natalia Cirello; brother-in-law, Jose DeMelo; Godchildren; Jason Sousa, Ryan Farpea, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and close friend, John Lobo. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Maria DeMelo. Joseph's visitation will be Sunday, March 26th from 3-6pm at Boulevard Funeral Home. His Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 27th at 10:30am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
