Laura Almeida

Laura (Jardin) Almeida 85 of New Bedford passed away suddenly at St. Luke’s hospital on Saturday November 10, 2012. She was the wife of Adriano “Cavey” Almeida and daughter of the late Antone and Joaquina (Pestana) Jardin. She was a lifelong New Bedford resident. Mrs. Almeida was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was formerly employed as a machine operator at Aerovox and as a theater cashier until her retirement. She was the past president of the Happy Group and was very active in the New Bedford Seniors and the St. Anthony Seniors. Survivors include her husband; her sons Adriano Almeida Jr. and his wife Jeanine of New Bedford; Michael Rezendes and wife Michelle; her daughter Patricia Almeida Greene and her husband Timothy of Acushnet; her sisters Dolores Chace of New Bedford, Helen Roberts of Acushnet and Patricia Bencs of Buffalo, NY; 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Geraldine Swain, grandmother of the late Sandra Swain and sister of the late Charles Jardin, Antone Jardin, Zulmira “Winnie” Elias, Angelina Dias, Hilda Amancio, Connie Nunes, Grace Vipon and Mary Jardin. Her funeral mass will be said 10am Wednesday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church.Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her name can be made to your favorite charity. Visiting hours are kindly omitted.
