Leopoldina (Sanches) Pinto 100 of New Bedford passed away on Sunday October 11, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Home. She was the widow of Antonio Fernandes Pinto, to whom she was married for 67 years, and daughter of the late Jose Joaquin Sanches and the late Albina Gomes Passo. She was born in Covas de Barroso, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Leopoldina was formerly employed as a stitcher at Elco Dress until her retirement. She was a member of the charismatic group of her church and Irmande de Santo Antonio in Portugal. She was very proud of her heritage and her religion. She was happiest when spending time with her family and friends and was the best cook. She also enjoyed walking in parades and going the feast. Survivors include her sons Carlos Pinto of New Bedford, Domingos Pinto of Fairhaven and Jose Joaquin Pinto of New Bedford; her daughter Eulalia “Lolly” Pinto of New Bedford. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Zulmira and Eulalia Pinto. Everyone is invited to attend her funeral mass at 9am on Friday October 16, at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
