Lilia (Pires) Campos 83 of New Bedford passed away Tuesday October 20, 2015 at her home. She was the widow of Alfred Campos and daughter of the late Leonel Pires Sr. and Maria (Linhares) Pires. She was born in New Bedford and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Campos was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was formerly employed as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until her retirement. She belonged to various senior groups, she volunteered at the soup kitchen in Fall River and had many hobbies including crafts, knitting and crossword puzzles. Lilia enjoyed being with her family and attended church faithfully. Survivors include her son Alfred J. Campos of Tennessee, her daughter Donna L. Oldrid and her husband Kenneth of Fall River; her brother Anibal Pires of New Hampshire; her sister Laurinda Jauhola of California; her grandsons Kenneth Oldrid of Vermont, Keith Oldrid of New Bedford, her great granddaughters Sophia Lilia Oldrid of Vermont, Willow Jane Oldrid of Fairhaven. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law. She was the sister of the late Leonel Pires Jr. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Saturday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4-7pm. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
