Lillian O. Coelho 84 of New Bedford, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at St. Luke’s hospital after a period of declining health. She was the widow of Gilbert R. Coelho and daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Martins) Oliveira.She was born in New Bedford and graduated from New Bedford High School in 1943. Lillian worked in the office at Morse Twist Drill Co., Boston Mutual Insurance Co for 22 years and the Salvation Army Office. When retired, she volunteered at the former Medi-Plex Nursing and Rehab. Facility. She enjoyed listening to music, going for car rides, playing bingo/pokeno and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughter Jane E. Bellavance and her husband Kevin of New Bedford, her son Anthony Coelho and his wife Sue of Seekonk, her granddaughters Jennifer Angers and her husband Andrew of East Taunton, Kristen Bellavance of Stoughton, Erin Hurst of Seekonk, her great-granddaughters Madison and Emma Angers, her brother Ernest Oliver and his wife Dorothy of
Fairhaven, her sister Helen Mello of Acushnet, as well as several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and dear friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her siblings Mary Cardoza, Evelyn Souza, Manuel Oliveira, Alfred Oliveira, Antone Oliveira, Elsie Souza and Joseph Oliveira. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to St. Luke’s Hospital personnel, especially Dr. Sokhn, for their compassion, Dr. Dirican, the staff of Project Independence Adult Day for filling Lillian’s “work” days with purpose, enjoyment and loving care. Special thanks go to the entire staff of Our Lady’s Haven, especially second medical, for their expert care, patience, support and kindness shown to Lillian and her family during her stay there. Her funeral mass will be said 9:30am Tuesday at St. Joseph- St. Therese Church. Visitation will be Monday 5-8pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home 223 Ashley Blvd. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery.
