Marcel J. Trahan 91 of New Bedford passed away Sunday May 7, 2017, at the Oak’s. He was the husband of the late Therese (Caron) Trahan and son of the late Polydore and Alexina (Quintin) Trahan. He was born in New Bedford and had lived in this area all of his life. Mr. Trahan was a self-employed contractor. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Marcel was a resident of Autumn Glen for 7 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club. In his spare time he enjoyed carving birds from wood. Survivors include his son Marcel J. Trahan and his wife Donna of New Bedford; his daughters Claudia McCarthy and her husband John of New Bedford, Louise Gissinger and her husband Rene of New Bedford, Susan Sullivan and her husband John of Canton, MA, Georgette Murphy and her husband Darryl of Dartmouth, Marguerite Miller and her husband Wayne of East Freetown, Loretta Wheeler and her husband Robert of New Bedford and Cecile Sinclair and her husband David of New Bedford; his brother Andre Trahan of Acushnet; his sister Noella Chevalier of Rochester, MA; 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Raymond Trahan, Paul Trahan, Albert Trahan, his ½ brother Roger Trahan and his ½ sister Jeanette Benjamin. His funeral services were private.
