Maria Brito

Maria H. (Mendes) Brito 77 of New Bedford passed away Sunday September 18, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Armindo doCarmo Brito and daughter of the late Jose Mendes and Maria daConceicao Tome. She was born in Celorico da Beira, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Maria was formerly employed as a stitcher at Cliftex until her retirement. Survivors include her children Alberto Brito, Paulo Brito, Rui Brito, Carlos Brito and Annabella Farinha all of New Bedford, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren also several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gilberto Mendes. Her funeral mass will be said 10:30am Wednesday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation will be Wednesday 8:30 -10:00am. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
