Maria Costa

Maria deConceicao (Martins) Costa 94 of New Bedford passed away Friday Sept. 29, 2017 at the Royal Taber St. Nursing Home, after a period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Cesar and Josefina Cidalia Martins. She was born in Vieira do Minho, Portugal and had live in New Bedford since 1977. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Maria worked for Columbia Electronics for several years. Her fondest memories were in Terceira, Azores working with service members as a housekeeper for many years. Her proudest achievement was becoming a US citizen in 1997. Her family would like to thank the Royal Taber St. Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care. Survivors include her son Thomas Martins of CA; her daughter Maria Do Sameiro Martins of Portugal; her grandchildren William and Jennifer Martins; and her dearest friend Ines Goncalves – Drolet. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial at Acushnet Cemetery will follow immediately. In accordance with her wishes she was cremated.
