Maria Duraes

Maria C. (Pinto) Duraes 89 of New Bedford passed away Saturday April 9, 2011 at St. Luke’s hospital. She was the wife of Luis C. Duraes and daughter of the late Antonio Gomes Pinto and Ludvina de Jesus. She was born in Castelejo, St. Comba Dao, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford since 1966. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Mrs. Duraes was a stitcher at Grotogs and JS Apparel until her retirement. Survivors include her daughter Maria C. Alves of New Bedford, her sons Manuel Duraes of Fairhaven and John P. Duraes of New Bedford; her brother Manuel Gomes Pinto of Castelejo; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews around the world. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Tuesday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visiting hours are Monday 4-8pm.Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery.
