Maria Nunes

Maria Fernanda (Abreu) Nunes 75 of New Bedford passed away Wednesday, April 15, at her home. She was the wife of Jose Nunes and daughter of the late Antonia Abreu. She was born in Funchal, Madeira and had lived in New Bedford since 1976. Maria was a child care provider, in her own home. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, walking and gardening. Survivors include her husband, her sons Joe Nunes and his companion Mark Phillips of FL, Nuno Nunes and his wife Christine of New Bedford; her daughters Paula Torres and her husband Paul of New Bedford, Fernanda Anjos and her husband Bill of Westfield, MA, Shirley Avelar and her husband Al of New Bedford. She also has 3 living brothers and 1 deceased brother; 1 living sister and 1 deceased sister. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kayla Torres, Madison Nunes, Brooke Nunes, Cassidy Nunes, Hannah Blanchard, Ross Anjos, Cody Nunes and Morgan Anjos also many nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated. Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
