Maria Simoes

Maria L. (Freire) Simoes 81 of New Bedford passed away Saturday January 31, 2015 at the Hathaway Manor. She the wife of the late Joaquim M. Simoes and daughter of the late Joao and Maria Freire. She was born in Portugal and lived in New Bedford most of her life. Maria was formerly employed as a stitcher for various clothing manufacturing companies. Survivors include her son Alberto “Al” Simoes and his wife Maureen of New Bedford; her grandchildren Roxanne Simoes, Tiffany Murphy, Jennifer Simoes, James Melo Simoes, Chris Goncalves, Patti Cook and Nickie Munstis; 2 great grandchildren Rochelle de Mendonca and Brooke Higgins. She was the mother of the late Joaquim Simoes. Her funeral service will be held 11am Friday. Visiting hours are Thursday 5-7pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
