Mary J. (Marshall) Taylor, 103, of New Bedford, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 20th at The Royal of Fairhaven Nursing Center. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Frank Marshall and the late Elvira (Fagundes) Marshall. She worked for 30 years as an inspector at Acushnet Co. from where she retired. Mary was a giant sports fan and could always be found cheering for the Red Sox, Braves and Celtics. She also loved watching football. Mary was a gifted ballroom dancer who enjoyed going to the senior dances and would sometimes sing. Her favorite song was "Young at Heart" which her family said fit her perfectly. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Adams; son, William Taylor and his wife Jane Taylor; grandchildren, Jenny E. Pitts, Benjamin R. Taylor, Ryan C. Adams, Kerri J. Adams, and Derek L. Adams; great granddaughter, Cheyenne De Pina and 8 more great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her son, Frederick "Ricky" Taylor Jr; her son-in-law Thomas Adams; brothers, Joseph Marshall, William Marshall, Frank Marshall; and sister, Agnes M Costa.
In accordance with her wishes, Mary will be cremated. A Funeral Service will be held at the Boulevard Funeral Home on Monday, July 3rd at 10am. All are welcome to join us at 9am at the Funeral Home. A private burial will take place following the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
