Mary Pereira

Mary E. “Betty” (Medeiros) Pereira 83 passed away suddenly, Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital with her loving son and daughter-in-law by her side. She was the wife of the late Narcizo “Nat” Pereira. They shared 43 years together. She was born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel and Helena (Coelho Souza) Medeiros. She was brought up in New Bedford and moved to Acushnet in 1970. Mrs. Pereira was employed by various clothing manufacturing companies in New Bedford until her retirement. Betty liked all things country; music and decorations. She was a big fan of Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash. She enjoyed her home and spending time with her beloved pet Cody. Survivors include her son Russell A. Pereira and his wife JoAnn of Acushnet, her sister Elaine Rezendes of Dartmouth, her brothers Arnold Medeiros of New Bedford and Frank “Raymond” Medeiros of New Bedford. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mary is predeceased by her brother Daniel Medeiros. Her visiting hours will be Sunday December 22, from 2-4pm. Her funeral mass will be said 11:30, Monday December 23 at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
